Slicing bread with my current knifes makes for quite an uneven mess. As a start, I would love trying the petite Santoku to make easy work of my sweet potato fries. I would imagine it would chop up my parmesean potatoes in a snap, too! The peeler looks appealing since I have been looking for a good peeler for a very long time. I have thrown out more peelers than I can count and get quite frustrated come apple season. I make a maple apple chutney that is a favorite for my whole family (extended as well). I seem to be peeling and chopping more and more apples every year. I would be ever so thankful to you and Cutco for an opportunity to use these great knives!
Regards,
Kathryn Parsons Aldrich (facebook)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6374637025604527940.post-54220654128179699842012-04-29T14:56:27.745-04:002012-04-29T14:56:27.745-04:00I'm a college student and I've been gluten...I'm a college student and I've been gluten intolerant and vegan for a year and a half now. I will be finally moving out of the dorms this summer which means I will be learning to cook gluten free meals for the first time on my own (the residence cafeteria provided GF pasta for me!). I will be starting from scratch purchasing all new dishes and cutlery to ensure zero contaimination, and I am looking forward to re-learning how to cook and maintain a healthy diet. I recently found out that I can no longer eat gluten or dairy. It has been quite an overwhelming change for me. As a student and mother, it is a stuggle to find the time and money to learn all these new recipes. Making all my food from scratch is very empowering, but it is a lot of work. Using steak knives is frustrating, but it is all I have. I would use these knives for everything from peeling anf chopping veggies for sushi and spring rolls, to quartering chickens. I am contantly re washing cutlery before using it and insist on my own cutting board. If I could have my own set of knives totally only for me my life would be a little easier without worrying about cross contamination. I have to cook from scratch and would use the knives to chop veggies, fruits, slice bread and peel potatoes and carrots without woorring about getting sick. My boyfriend loves to cook but has been a confirmed bachelor for years, so his kitchen isn't so well-stocked. He's eager to learn about cooking gluten-free and tries really hard to ensure I always have food to eat when staying at his place. (We live two hours apart and take turns visiting.) He really is a great chef -- he's made me gluten-free french onion soup, bruschetta, chicken alfredo, and all sorts of other delicious foods. He's got some food allergies, too, so eating out is challenging, to say the least. And we love cooking together, usually stir-fries. But his knive selection really sucks. All of these CUTCO products would be a great help for when we cook together! For instance, right now, he doesn't even have a vegetable peeler, or any serrated blade except a steak knife! But I know that the Petite Santoku would be the most useful and something we could both use when cooking yummy gluten-free foods together. I'm already salivating at the thought of his Thai green curry...
You can find me on Facebook as Shawna Katz or email me at seak17 @ gmail.comSeak17https://www.blogger.com/profile/07041473474811749826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6374637025604527940.post-59670619961231046542012-04-27T01:32:43.542-04:002012-04-27T01:32:43.542-04:00Wow, homemade GF pita bread?! Being in the specialty food/kitchenware industry for years I have had the chance to preview, sell and own some of the best knives around and am very curious to see how these CUTCO knives would stack up - especially the 5" petite santuko.
